Who Owns It

The artist remains the copyright owner of the artwork. You essentially have ‘licensed’ the piece and are prohibited from making copies and re-selling without the artists’ written permission.

Process

Please keep in mind that we are always trying to improve our process. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

  1. The customer (you) purchases a deposit token from the shop. For example, '‘A5 Animal Portrait Token.’ The deposit is to ensure no time is wasted and will be taken off from the final price.

  2. The artist (me) will reach out to you to gain more details of what you would like created.

  3. The customer will provide further detail and, if it is a pet portrait, provide images as necessary for the artist to draw inspiration from and to create a likeness of your chosen portrait subject.

  4. The artist will provide the price. A further deposit of up to 50% of the total (token included) will be non-refundable and paid before work commences.

  5. Upon agreement, the sketch phase begins. The artist will get to work and provide a rough sketch, usually digitally, for the customers’ approval. You can request 2 changes to a single sketch.

  6. Once approved, no more changes can be made unless the artist sees fit to make changes for the sake of accuracy and proportions etc..

Types of Commission

All commissions whether digital or not, are created to the size of approximately the size described when purchasing a token. I.e. ‘A5 Animal Portrait Token,’ or ‘4k Digital Painting. Token.’

If it is a tattoo commission, please make sure you state this in the beginning.

The artist works with the following mediums:

  1. Pen and Ink

  2. Digital Painting

  3. Acrylic/Gouash

  4. Coloured Pencil

Permissions

You are granting the artist the rights to use the process of drawing and images of the final work to promote on social media - you are also welcome to do the same for personal use.

You are also granting permission for the artist to use the images for promotional purposes (marketing).

In the case of general animal portraits, you give the right for the artist to sell prints, both digital and physical, of the portrait.

This doesn’t include pet portraits as they are more personal. Please let us know if you do not want us to use images of your pet portraits for promotional material.

Use of AI

We may use AI to help generate ideas and inspiration, but we will not sell a piece of AI art as your commission piece.

Every piece of work created and sold by Dragonfire Studio is created from scratch, we do not cut corners and throw all the love and passion we have into every single piece.

AI also does not have permission to use the work to train itself or another, or manipulate the image into new work - much the same as no human does either.
